Product Creation: The Early Stages

ID-100211450For today’s post I want to talk about product creation and how you should go about it. These tips are from what I have learned and picked up along the way.

For starting Internet Marketers when you mention the word product creation it sends a collective shiver down each ones spine. Now I myself am at the point where I am still throwing around ideas as to how what to include in my first product and I thought I’d share with you some words of advice on how to go about choosing the right niche and deciding on a topic.

Research! Research! Research!

It goes without saying that you must do your research before creating your product otherwise you will not know the potential size of your market and buyers. Research is probably the most vital stage as it sets the groundwork for the rest of product creation.

To do research have one or two ideas in your head of the product you want to create and find out if there is a demand. To do this go on any search engine or internet marketing forums (like the warrior forum) and input the keyword of any ideas you have and see if people are asking questions or want to know something, the more questions the better. Hopefully this should help to narrow down your choices and help pick a niche in your chosen category.

Another way is to go on affiliate websites (e.g. Clickbank, JVZoo) and assess what products are already out there, and gauge your potential competition (having competition is a good thing by the way). To search on these sites you want to input the keywords of your product ideas and filter the options to show the ones with the most popularity. If there are many products with high popularity/sales then you know that is the potential niche you should enter.

Do something that you enjoy!

Doing your research is all well and good but going with whatever is popular or has the potential to make the most money won’t come off so well if you don’t enjoy learning or writing about the topic you have chosen to create a product on, because at the end of the day your product just won’t be up to the mark to sell thousands of copies because people will think that you don’t know what you are talking about.

The point is you should choose a niche that you enjoy learning about, or that you enjoy when its put into use so that you create a much better product where you are also able to share your experiences with to create a more authentic learning tool that will appeal and sell.

    Well hello Stuart

Great to hear you are making progress with your solution selection, I am currently trying to wade through all the research I have collected and make sense of it.

However as you point out the best solutions are ones that we either will enjoy creating or enjoy using in our own business.
